Before coloring your hair, you should perform a patch or strand test with your hair color or bleach to make sure you don’t have any allergic reactions. You can also see if you like the color before coloring your hair all over!
Yes and no. Some of our colors (especially neons, UVs, and pastels) work best on a pre-lightened base. If you want our signature intense color, we recommend lightening your hair to at least a level 7+ blonde. But we also have colors that give gorgeous colorful tints to dark hair. Each product on our website comes with hair swatches so you can see before and after results on light and dark hair.
Your base color is SUPER important since it affects the appearance of tones. If you apply blue pigment on top of a yellow-toned blonde, the results can veer toward a more teal or green hue. The whiter the hair, the truer the color tone. Before you color your hair blue, watch a tutorial by Mykey O’Halloran on how to avoid green tints!
Our semi-permanent formula lasts for about 4-6 weeks. But stronger formulas (like our Amplified collection) last longer because they contain 30% more pigment.
If you want to fight the fade for longer, we have color-safe shampoos and conditioners made specifically to maintain our hair colors. Use cool water when shampooing and try to wash hair only once a week (the more you wash, the faster the color fades). We also have dry shampoo to keep your color fresh on days when you skip a wash.

"my kids and I colored their hair with it and they thought it was so bright and pretty. but after going in the pool and surf camp for three hours it faded to like the cotton candy pink and disappointing considering it was so bright the day before and it looked faint and they were so upset about it. Only recommend if you like a fainter and more sheer color."

"I’ve now used this dye twice I have virgin light brown hair when I first dye it it bright and I love it but after just one wash with cold water it’s almost all gone I don’t use heat and so I don’t understand why it fades so fast I know it’s semi permanent but I would hope it last atleast two weeks I use a color safe shampoo too I don’t think I will be buying it again as I wanted a neon pink but after one wash I got a cotton candy pink I would not recommend this dye if you want it to last and to not waste your money"

"I have been using this color since July now. I don’t normally buy it online, but due to circumstances I had to buy it online. Everything was correct as I received it. The only thing that was different was the actual color in the jar. For some reason it was a lighter almost cotton candy pink vs the hot hot pink i’m use to. Also, I noted that the consistency itself when I applied it was like soapy? Im not sure what happened… But even after the application, wash, and dry, it didn’t turn out as bright pink as i’m otherwise use to. It almost looks as faded as it did before i started the application. It is a little bit disappointing because I spent ~$30 on it, and I didn’t get the right results… I probably wont buy it online again :|"

"The dye had spilled in the box that it came in so when I opened it my hands got stained pink a little bit. I wish the dye was shipped here a little neater. Also the hair dye worked perfectly."
