Manic Panic, e.l.f. Snag Top Honors in Second Annual peta2 Libby Awards
Animal-Friendly Hair Dye Retailer, Cosmetics Company Capture Youth
For Immediate Release:
New York - Hair dye that animals died for is definitely out this year. So is makeup that was tested on animals. Just ask the nearly 300,000 (and growing) Street Team members of peta2--the world's largest youth animal rights organization--who, along with nearly 800,000 e-news subscribers, recently had the opportunity to vote for their favorite animal-friendly people and companies in peta2's second annual Libby Awards ("Libby" is for "liberation"). New York-based retailers Manic Panic and e.l.f. came up big as winners:
Best Hair Product: Manic Panic Hair Dye
Manic Panic features the hottest hues around, so it's no wonder that MTV credited the company with starting the brightly colored tresses trend that we now see on the streets. As cruelty-free as they are colorful, all of Manic Panic's punk/gothic-inspired products are completely vegan. Aveda Light Elements Smoothing Fluid, Lush Veganese Conditioner, and Freeman Papaya & Lime Overboard Shine Shampoo were runners-up..
"Manic Panic and e.l.f. are meeting peta2 members' demand for personal care products and cosmetics that are trendy, top-quality, and animal-friendly," says peta2 Senior Youth Marketing Coordinator Lara Sanders. "Customers can rest assured that when they spend their money with these two companies, compassion comes free with every purchase."
Manic Panic and e.l.f. will each receive a plaque and be featured on peta2.com. Other categories included Best New Fur Foe, Best Animal-Friendly Movie, and Best Animal-Friendly Clothing Company.

Tish and Snooky welcome EMILY THE STRANGE to the MANIC PANIC family with a special line of co-branded products. "It's a perfect match". Tish and Snooky said that Emily the Strange’s image as a counterculture, do-it-yourself icon is a great fit with Manic Panic products. “Emily exudes the attitude and creative spirit Manic Panic has built its reputation on…and because she resonates with today’s young rockers, she’s a natural choice for us,” said Snooky.
